Another work in progress photo of some late imperial roman military equipment. It's part of one of my long-term projects to portrait (hopefully historically accurate 
) the roman forces that defended Dura Europos in its final siege by the Sassanids at some point in the 250s AD in scale 1:18. I've lately been busier with it again since I needed some time away from felting.
At the moment I'm facing the problem how to give the helmets I modelled in polymer clay a proper metallic shine. For that purpose I made a simple pilos helmet (to be seen in the centre of the photo) and covered it with a silver metal foil. It looks alright I guess but I'm not entirely satisfied yet... Might try and cast them in tin or something like that. Would be happy for any suggestions, be it on tips for the helmets or on any historic matters!
